Where It All Began
When Kumari was just six years old, her father passed away, leaving her mother to raise her daughters alone. With remarkable courage and determination, her mother took a job at a children's home so that her daughters could have the education and opportunities she had always dreamed of giving them.
Kumari grew up, earned a university degree, and built a life of her own. Yet her mother never let her forget the lesson that had shaped their family:
"Give back what life has given you."
Years later, Kumari chose to make those words her mission.
Our Story · Part 3
A New Home, A New Purpose
Together with her family, she left Mumbai for Tiruvannamalai, her mother's hometown, to create a home where children could find more than a roof over their heads — a place where they could feel safe, be cared for, receive an education, and, most importantly, grow up knowing that they matter.
Kumari did not have to look far to find children in need of a home. What began as a deeply personal promise became a lifelong commitment to giving children the opportunities her own mother had fought so hard to give her.
Since 2003, Kumari and her family have opened their home and their hearts to more than 350 children, giving each of them a place to belong, the opportunity to receive an education, and the chance to build a better future.
What her mother once gave Kumari, she now gives to others.
