At the feet of the  mountain, the small town of Tiruvanamalai is the home to a renowned temple but also to the famous Ramana Ashram founded by Sri Ramana, a wise guru who spent most of his life living in a cave nearby. Every full moon, a huge gathering called Girivalam takes place :  people coming from all over India take the walk around the mountain, barefoot, for 14km…
